How it works

Getting finance for your solar system is straightforward. Here's what to expect from survey to switch-on.

01

Get your free survey

Our surveyor visits your property, assesses your roof and energy usage, and provides a detailed written quote at no cost and with no obligation.

02

Apply for finance

Once you're happy with the quote, we'll guide you through the finance application. Apply online in minutes and receive a fast decision from Ideal4Finance.

03

We install your system

Our MCS-accredited team installs your panels and battery. Monthly repayments begin once the work is complete and you're generating your own clean energy.

A smarter way to think about it

Your panels help
pay for themselves.

Unlike financing a roof repair where the benefit is purely protective, solar panels generate electricity from day one. The savings on your energy bills go straight back towards your monthly repayment, reducing the real cost of finance significantly.

A typical Scottish home with a 4kW system can save £80–£110 per month on energy bills. When offset against a monthly repayment, the net cost of going solar is often lower than you'd expect.

Estimated monthly repayment (£8k system, 60 months) −£133
Estimated monthly bill saving (4kW system, Scotland avg.) +£95
Net monthly cost after savings ~£38/mo

Common questions

Finance FAQs

Who is eligible for finance?

Finance is available to UK residents aged 18 and over. You will need to pass a credit check. Finance is subject to status, not all applicants will be accepted, and the rate offered will depend on your personal circumstances.

Will applying affect my credit score?

An initial soft search is carried out to provide you with a quote, which does not affect your credit score. A full credit search is only carried out when you proceed with a full application.

How quickly will I get a decision?

The online application takes just a few minutes to complete and in most cases a decision is provided quickly. Once approved, we can schedule your installation without delay.

What is the minimum and maximum loan amount?

Finance is available on projects from £1,000 upwards, up to £50,000. Please speak to our team for details on the right loan amount for your project.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

A deposit may be required depending on the loan amount and term. We will agree any deposit amount with you before you begin your application, so there are no surprises.

What terms are available?

Finance is available over 36, 48, 60 and 120 months at 11.9% APR. Longer terms mean lower monthly repayments, though you will pay more interest overall. Our team can help you choose the term that works best for your budget.

Can I include battery storage in the finance?

Yes. Finance can cover the full system cost including solar panels, battery storage, inverter, and installation. Adding a battery maximises your savings by storing unused daytime generation for evening use, so it often makes financial sense to include it from the outset.

What are the risks of taking out a loan?

There are risks involved in taking out a loan. You should ensure you can make all payments on time and in full, failure to do so can lead to financial difficulties and have a negative impact on your credit score. Please only apply if you are confident in your ability to meet repayments.

Who provides the finance?

Finance is provided through our partner Ideal4Finance (Ideal Sales Solutions Ltd, FRN 703401), a credit broker authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Speedy Solar acts as an Introducer Appointed Representative and does not provide credit directly.
