3. Surveys and quotes
Our initial site survey and quotation are provided free of charge and with no obligation to proceed. A survey and quote do not constitute a contract between us.
Quotes are valid for 30 days from the date of issue unless otherwise stated. After this period, we reserve the right to revise pricing due to changes in equipment costs or availability.
All quotes are based on information gathered during the site survey. If the installation reveals conditions not identified during the survey (for example, structural issues with the roof, additional electrical work required, or asbestos), we will notify you before proceeding and provide a revised quote if additional costs apply.
4. How a contract is formed
A contract between you and Speedy Solar is formed when you:
- Sign and return our written quotation or proposal document, or
- Confirm acceptance in writing (including by email), and
- Pay any required deposit as specified in the quote
We reserve the right to decline to enter into a contract at our discretion prior to formation.
5. Payment terms
Payment terms will be set out in your individual quotation. Typical terms are as follows:
- Deposit: A deposit (amount specified in your quote) is required to secure your installation date
- Balance: The remaining balance is due on completion of the installation
We accept payment by bank transfer, debit card, and credit card. Finance options are available — see Section 6 below.
Where payment is not received by the due date, we reserve the right to charge interest at 8% per annum above the Bank of England base rate, in accordance with the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
6. Finance
We offer finance options through Ideal4Finance, an Introducer Appointed Representative of Ideal Sales Solutions Ltd, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 703401).
Finance is subject to status and credit checks. We act only as an introducer and are not responsible for the terms, conditions, or decisions made by the finance provider. All finance agreements are between you and the finance provider directly.
Representative example: Finance details and representative APR are provided at the point of application. Please ensure you read all finance documentation carefully before signing.
7. Your right to cancel
Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, you have the right to cancel your contract within 14 calendar days of signing, without giving any reason.
To exercise your right to cancel, contact us clearly in writing (letter or email) within this period:
Email: info@speedysolar.co.uk
Post: Unit B2, Blantyre Industrial Estate, Block 7 Central Ave, Blantyre, Glasgow, G72 0AF
If you request that work begins within the 14-day cancellation period, and you then cancel before completion, you may be required to pay for any work carried out up to the point of cancellation. Any deposit paid in excess of work completed will be refunded within 14 days of cancellation.
After the 14-day cancellation period, cancellation fees may apply as set out in your individual contract.
8. Installation
We will agree an installation date with you and provide reasonable notice of any changes. You are responsible for ensuring clear, safe access to the property and the roof on the agreed date.
All installations are carried out by our qualified engineers in accordance with MCS standards, the relevant British Standards, and current building regulations.
You are responsible for obtaining any necessary planning permissions prior to installation. We will advise during the survey if we believe planning permission may be required, but the responsibility for obtaining permission rests with you as the property owner.
On completion of the installation, we will demonstrate the system to you and provide all relevant documentation, including your MCS certificate, system manuals, and warranty information.
9. Warranties and guarantees
The following warranties apply to our installations:
| Item | Warranty |
|---|---|
| Solar PV panels | As per manufacturer warranty (typically 25 years product / 25 years performance) |
| Inverter | As per manufacturer warranty (typically 5–12 years) |
| Battery storage system | As per manufacturer warranty (typically 10 years) |
| Installation workmanship | 2 years from date of completion |
Warranties are void if the system is modified, repaired, or interfered with by anyone other than an authorised engineer, or if damage results from misuse, negligence, or events beyond our control (including storm damage, flooding, or structural failure).
Our workmanship warranty does not cover fair wear and tear, cosmetic damage, or damage caused by third parties.
10. MCS certification and Smart Export Guarantee
All our solar PV installations are carried out under MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) certification. You will receive an MCS certificate on completion, which is required to apply for the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) and certain energy tariffs.
We are not responsible for the terms, payment rates, or availability of the SEG or any other energy export scheme. Applications to energy suppliers are made by you as the property owner.
11. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
Subject to the above, our total liability to you in connection with any contract shall not exceed the total amount paid by you under that contract.
We are not liable for any indirect, consequential, or economic loss, loss of profit, loss of revenue, or loss of savings arising from our services, except where required by law.
We are not responsible for delays or failures in performance caused by events outside our reasonable control, including severe weather, material shortages, or network failures.
12. Complaints
We take all complaints seriously. If you are unhappy with any aspect of our service, please contact us in the first instance:
Email: info@speedysolar.co.uk
Phone: 0141 374 2985
Post: Unit B2, Blantyre Industrial Estate, Block 7 Central Ave, Blantyre, Glasgow, G72 0AF
We will acknowledge your complaint within 5 working days and aim to resolve it within 28 days. If we are unable to resolve your complaint to your satisfaction, you may be entitled to refer the matter to an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) scheme — we will provide details of any applicable scheme at that stage.
13. Governing law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Scotland. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.
Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected by these Terms.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when they were last updated. Any changes will apply to new contracts entered into after the update date.
